Diamond Jack's Renaissance Center sunset tours offer many breathtaking views of the Detroit city skyline.

Greetings, Diamond Jack family!

It’s May and the temperatures are rising, days are getting longer and the birds are singing. It’s almost time to be on the Detroit River in a Diamond Jack cruise!

As of right now, our boats are still scheduled to launch on June 4 from the Detroit dock and June 5 from the Wyandotte dock. We are, as so many families in Michigan are doing right now, “playing it by ear”. We are hopeful that the pandemic will have died down significantly in the next month and the Stay at Home order will be lifted. We will, of course, keep our Diamond Jack family updated as things progress and will do everything we can to protect against COVID-19.

If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to call (313) 843-9376 or fill out our contact form. We’ll answer your questions as quickly as possible.

Summer River Boat Tours

As we mentioned above, we are still planning on launching summer on the river in early June! Join us on June 4 at the Detroit dock or June 5 at Wyandotte for a carefree afternoon of taking a voyage on the Detroit River. Our boats offer plenty of space for social distancing, and two of three decks are outdoors.

This year, we’re offering 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. tours from our Detroit dock at the Rivard Dock on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Our Wyandotte dock in Bishop Park will have 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. tours on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tours are about 2 hours long and offer a fascinating variety of sites for all ages to enjoy.

Pick a day to bring all your family and friends out to Wyandotte or Detroit and purchase your tickets at the dock. For a full list of prices and schedules, click here. Make it a Diamond Jack day!

Private Charters

While things may still be a little uncertain, we are offering private charters until October 31. Had an event that had to be canceled or postponed? Why not host it with Diamond Jack?!

Your guests will love their own exclusive, private tour of the Detroit River on one of Diamond Jack’s historic river boats. We offer the options for catering and a bar onboard, too! Private charters include three departure locations, flexible departure times and indoor and outdoor areas of the boat.

Whether your event is a prom, family reunion, office party, charity event, anniversary party or something else, let Diamond Jack’s make it an event to remember! To book your private charter right now or for questions, fill out our contact form or call (313) 843-9376.

Featured Tour Site This Month: GM Renaissance Center

One of the crowning jewels of the Detroit skyline, the GM Renaissance Center is a neighbor of the Detroit Diamond Jack dock. The distinctive silhouette has become one of the most recognizable icons of Detroit.

Although it is now known as the GM Renaissance Center, Henry Ford II unveiled the plans for the original “RenCen” in 1971. He boasted that the modern building, designed by John C. Portman, Jr., would revitalize the city of Detroit. Construction began for the first phase in May of 1973 and the first tower opened in 1976. The opening party took place in April of 1977, and other tower, renovations and additions have happened at the RenCen since then. It was originally built for $350 million!

Although the Ford Motor Company kicked off the idea for the Renaissance Center, General Motors purchased it for its world headquarters in 1996, hence the name.

Today, the Renaissance Center brims with banks, shops, restaurants, offices, world headquarters, a hotel, spas and more! The central tower is the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center and is the third-tallest all-hotel skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere.

The Renaissance Center brims with 73 stories and 5.5 million square feet. Twenty nine restaurants serve all sorts of food, and the center welcomes 14,000+ visitors and tenants each year. It’s so large it has its own zip code: 48243!

Take a gander at the RenCen as you drive into the Diamond Jack Detroit dock, then see it up close and personal with it on your Diamond Jack River Boat tour!

All aboard Detroit!
