Hello everyone in the Diamond Jack family!

Welcome to May 2021 and to a new sailing season!
Temperatures are up, days are getting longer and an end to the COVID-19 pandemic is in sight. What could be better? Another season of sailing down the beautiful Detroit River with Diamond Jack River Tours!
We operate all our tours in accordance with CDC guidelines for outdoor gatherings. Masks are required, even outdoors, and social distancing is observed. Our tours are operating at 50% capacity.
2021 Season Update
This year is especially exciting because we’ve decided to start our season earlier than ever before! Beginning May 15, we will be offering hour-long tours on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets for these tours will cost less than the rest of the season, at $15 for adults and $10 for children. If you’re interested, come on down to The Rivard Dock in Detroit and sail with us!
Our boats are nearly ready to set sail from the Cullen Plaza on the Detroit Riverfront at the foot of Rivard Dock. This year, we’ve made the decision to not use the Wyandotte dock for sightseeing tours. Capacity limitations have curtailed our ability to operate tours from the Wyandotte dock.
Due to the ongoing pandemic, our tour route has slightly changed. Since the U.S.-Canada border is still closed, we’ve had to adjust accordingly. We will still depart from the Rivard dock but need to remain out of Canadian water, so we will not travel around Belle Isle or under the Ambassador Bridge.
Just like last year, we will be enforcing social distancing guidelines as well as taking all safety measures to protect against Covid-19.
Detroit River Public Boat Tours Start May 15th!
We’re excited to launch our boats into the river and get the 2021 season started! Join us for a fun, relaxing afternoon seeing all that the Detroit Riverfront has to offer.
And then, starting June 3, we will offer even more tours departing from the Cullen (Rivard) Plaza every Thursday through Sunday at 1 p.m., 2;30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. This year, our season will go through Labor Day. Ticket prices will be: $18 for adults, $13 for seniors 60+, $10 for kids 6-12, $5 for kids 5 and under.
Pick a day this summer for a fun day out with your family and friends! A Diamond Jack tour is perfect for those who have lived in Detroit, but want to see the city from a new perspective, and great for those visiting Detroit who want to learn about the city in a unique way!
Private Boat Charters
In addition to our public sightseeing tours, we are offering private charters, too. Our boats offer plenty of space and a unique venue for any event – if you canceled or postponed an event due to the pandemic, now’s the time to host it on one of our beautiful boats!
You’ll be treated to an exclusive tour of the Detroit River on one of our historic, three-deck boats. We offer catering and bar options, as well as different departure locations and flexible departure times so we can meet your needs for any event!
We’ve hosted many events in the past – family reunions, office parties, charity events – you name it, we’ve done it! Make your event one to remember with Diamond Jack.
If you have any questions or to book now, call us (313) 843-9376 or fill out our contact form. We’ll answer your questions as quickly as possible.
Featured Tour Site: Ambassador Bridge
To kick off our 2021 season, we are highlighting Detroit’s iconic Ambassador Bridge.
The big blue bridge connects Detroit to Windsor, Ontario and is the busiest international border crossing in North America in terms of trade volume. More than 25% of all merchandise trade between the U.S. and Canada crosses the Ambassador Bridge!
Opened in 1929, the four-lane bridge carries more than 10,000 commercial vehicles and 4,000 personal and business vehicles per day – pandemic closures not included.
The Ambassador Bridge touts Art Deco and Gothic styling and spans 7,490 feet. At the time of its construction, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world. To this day, the bridge is the largest international suspension bridge in the world.
In years to come, the Ambassador Bridge will be joined by the Gordie Howe International Bridge situated a few miles south on the Detroit River.
Ask the Captain a Question
We’re kicking off 2021’s Ask the Captain Questions with a couple of our favorite questions from 2018.
Question: What do you enjoy most about your job?
Answer: The part I enjoy most about the job is meeting the guests we have onboard, especially the young kids who seem to really get a kick out of being on the boat.
Question: What’s your favorite place on the boat?
Answer: I think I can speak for all of the Captains and that would be in the pilot house running the boat.
