July Sightseeing Tours
This summer, we have been offering our 1-hour sightseeing tours on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and we will continue to do so through Labor Day!
Tickets for our tours cost $18 for adults, $13 for seniors 60+, $10 for children 6-12 and $5 for kids 5 and under. If you are looking for a deal, though, we are running a special this month! Adults can get $3 off a sightseeing tour on Thursdays and Fridays until July 30.
If you’re looking for a fun day on the water learning about some of Detroit’s most famous sites, come on down to The Rivard Dock in Detroit and sail with us!
Our sightseeing tours depart from the Cullen (Rivard) Plaza at 1340 Atwater Street, Detroit, MI, every Thursday through Sunday at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
Remember, we don’t take reservations for our sightseeing tours. Tickets can be purchased on the boat once you board. Boarding begins 30 minutes before the tour’s scheduled departure time.
We suggest you arrive early, find parking, and make your way to the dock at least 15 minutes before the tour is scheduled to leave to get a place in line. Don’t worry! We rarely turn people away, and the next tour is in just 90 minutes.

Featured Tour Site: TCF Center/Cobo Hall
This month, we’re featuring the well-known TCF Center. The TCF Center, or as many famously know it, Cobo Hall, is situated right next to the site of the former Joe Louis Arena. The venue has been the home of the North American International Auto Show, and also hosts some of Detroit’s largest exhibitions, attracting millions of people to the venue every year.
The TCF Center previously featured an arena called Cobo Arena, which many Detroiters are familiar with, as popular concerts and sporting events were held there in the past. The arena was renovated in 2015 into meeting halls, a ballroom and a glass atrium that looks out onto the Detroit Riverfront.
The event space is located right on the Detroit Riverfront and is within walking distance to many downtown sites, like the Renaissance Center and the Diamond Jack dock.
The original facility was opened in 1960. It was constructed on the site where Antoine Cadillac first set foot in July 1701 and claimed the surrounding area for France.
The first convention held at the TCF Center was the Florists’ Telegraph Delivery. The first year the facility was opened, President Dwight D. Eisenhower was a keynote speaker at a dinner there.
The former Cobo Arena served as the home court of the Detroit Pistons from 1961 until 1978, as well as the home of the short-lived World Hockey Association team the Michigan Stags and the World Team Tennis team the Detroit Loves in 1974.
In 1963, Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech at Cobo Arena.
Cobo Arena was also home to many legendary rock concerts, including Queen, Journey, The Rolling Stones, Alice Cooper, Kiss, Prince, and many more.
In 1994, the neighboring Joe Louis Arena was the host of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships and Cobo Arena was the site of the famous assault of figure skater Nancy Kerrigan.

Question: What is your favorite place on the boat?
Answer: Favorite place on the boat is, of course, the pilot house where we drive the boat. It’s our home away from home for the summer months.
Question: What is the longest time you’ve sailed a boat?
Answer: I have sailed for weeks on a tugboat, but on the Diamond boats, we are limited to actual steering the boat for 12 hours, after that we have to have at least 6 hours off.
